Psychometric Instruments & Profiling Tools

A range of profiling tools that increase awareness and give insights into areas for improvement can be utilised in our coaching and development work with individuals and teams.

In addition to the instruments below, we provide a wider range of assessments, profiles and organisational diagnostic tools through our network of associates, organisational psychologists and affiliated partners.

Klein Group Instrument (KGI™) for Effective Leadership and Participation in Teams

KGI™is unique in its ability to assess a range of behaviours that are essential for effective leadership and teamwork. The KGI™ explores people's patterns of group behaviour along four critical dimensions - Leadership, Negotiation Orientation, Task Focus and Interpersonal Focus. The four major scales are broken down into nine subscales that provide you and your team with action steps to boost your performance.

Professor Robert Klein visited Australia in March/April 2009 at the invitation of Rhonda Tranks. Insightful and highly successful workshops were conducted in Melbourne and Sydney, and an enthusiastic group of participants is now establishing a Community of Practice with Illuma Consulting. See the Klein Group Instrument workshop brochure. Please contact us for more information about the KGI™.

Facet5:

A 'Big 5' factor personality model, which allows managers to understand how people differ in their behaviour, motivation, attitudes and aspirations. Facet5 works at all levels from individual assessment through selection, recruitment and team integration. Facet5 can also be extended to understand culture and values at a team or corporate level. Facet5 responds to the theory that there are 5 general areas of personality, outlined as:

  • Will - determination, confrontation and independence
  • Control - discipline and responsibility
  • Energy - vitality, sociality and adaptability
  • Affection - altruism, support and trust
  • Emotionality - tension and apprehension.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®):

A self-report questionnaire designed to make Jung's theory of psychological type understandable and useful in everyday life. MBTI describes valuable differences between normal, healthy people which can be the source of much misunderstanding and miscommunication.
MBTI helps clients identify their strengths, revealing information for greater self-understanding and identifying potential areas for growth. It also helps clients to better understand and appreciate those with different personality types.

DiSC:

We use a number of Geier Learning Systems' instruments, available in Australia through Management Dynamics International. The letters D-I-S-C represent four personality factors (D-Directive, I-Interactive, S-Supportive and C-Corrective. Each factor reflects a different perception and response. The Personality Factor ProfileTM (PFP) on-line report identifies: your DiSC strategies and tactics, current temperament, intentions, how you manage impressions, how you connect with others, your emerging beliefs, how you influence others, how you encounter opposition, your productive/non-productive behaviour, your potential limitations and how to increase your effectiveness.
